A Citation Network Analysis Of Educational Research İn Turkey

The primary purpose of this study was to examine the state of the field of educational research in Turkey by analyzing the articles and their citations which were published in the last decade. In this regard, firstly, three of the most publishing journals from Turkey which are indexed in Web of Science Database were specified in order to narrow down the range for this analysis: (1) Educational Sciences Theory Practice; (2) Education and Science; (3) Hacettepe University Journal of Education. Secondly, a total of 2664 articles published in those specified journals between 2007 and 2017 were downloaded together with their metadata and organized for the network analysis. Thirdly, citation networks were constructed based on journal name and publication year, demonstrating the relations between the articles and their references. By citation network analysis, we aimed to identify the most influential publications that are prompting the development of the educational research field in Turkey while detecting the trends and evolutionary paths veiled in the citation relations of the studies conducted.
